My Thinkpad Tablet 10 contains a Sierra Wireless EM7345 3G/LTE modem, which works fine as LTE modem (using MBIM interface). Many 3G modems also contain, for what reason ever, a GNSS (Global Navigation System) receiver, commonly called GPS which is confusing since nowadays we do not only have GPS satellites hanging in the sky but also GLONASS, WAAS, EGNOS, Galileo… Read more »

Read more »
YAT – Yet Another Toy 🙂 For quite some I am into wearable devices, especially smart watches. I like the idea of having a programmable device at hand all the time. But it is a major pain to find something like that that is at least kind of wearable for women. The Pebble Time Round could be one. I ordered… Read more »
It is quite some time now that I tried to get my otherwise nice Thinkpad Tablet 10 to behave with Linux. To make a long story short I think I have a quite stable version now, here is my kernel package which I use on top of Ubuntu 16.04LTS: linux-image-4.5.4_01_amd64.deb
I am making progress in getting the device to behave. With quite some help from some nice guys at Intel Finland – thank you! – and a lot of trying and fiddling I can now report that my TPT10 seems to go to sleep and wake up again – without glitches, so far. A major improvement is the latest Linux… Read more »
Doch wohin streben aktuelle Entwicklungen? Was wird mit/nach ICD-11 passieren?… Read more »
Oh yeah, my Thinkpad Tablet 10 is finally sleeping, or rather it does a „suspend-to-idle“. Whow! That was some major pain. Today I first found a nice patch that is supposed to help with the nasty Baytrail MMC timeouts: http://www.spinics.net/lists/linux-mmc/msg36309.html Update: It could be necessary to add another two patches especially for the brcmfmac WiFi: http://marc.info/?l=linux-mmc&m=143023247221784 [ Kudos to Adrian… Read more »
As you might have noticed, I got myself a Thinkpad Tablet 10 which came pre-installed with Windows 8.1pro. Oh dear, what a pile of crap this is! The mixture of the new Metro GUI and the „old“ classic desktop is a nightmare. Some application are here, some are there, some settings are here, some other depending settings are there. A… Read more »
I got one step closer to finding out how low modes are supposed to work. When I boot the TPT10 in rescue mode or some other single user mode with just framebuffer console enabled, the device will indeed go into a low power mode when the „freeze“ state is activated! And it wakes up by pressing the power button! But… Read more »
I already wrote about my latest toy, the Thinkpad Tablet 10 (TPT10), an Intel Z3795 aka Baytrail based machine. The TPT10 came with Windows 8.1Pro pre installed, which I am trying to get rid of. While playing with Linux on it, which is running somewhat nicely, I found that there is no ACPI state S3 aka suspend to RAM. Strange,… Read more »
