As you might have noticed, I got myself a Thinkpad Tablet 10 which came pre-installed with Windows 8.1pro. Oh dear, what a pile of crap this is! The mixture of the new Metro GUI and the „old“ classic desktop is a nightmare. Some application are here, some are there, some settings are here, some other depending settings are there. A… Read more »
I got one step closer to finding out how low modes are supposed to work. When I boot the TPT10 in rescue mode or some other single user mode with just framebuffer console enabled, the device will indeed go into a low power mode when the „freeze“ state is activated! And it wakes up by pressing the power button! But… Read more »
I already wrote about my latest toy, the Thinkpad Tablet 10 (TPT10), an Intel Z3795 aka Baytrail based machine. The TPT10 came with Windows 8.1Pro pre installed, which I am trying to get rid of. While playing with Linux on it, which is running somewhat nicely, I found that there is no ACPI state S3 aka suspend to RAM. Strange,… Read more »
I described the hardware here in detail. The device is nice, the hardware really is what I am looking for. But getting Linux to run on it is a pain. Less painful as on the MIIX300 but still painful. After some research I decided to give Ubuntu 16.04 a try and at first was pretty happy with the installation process…. Read more »
After my try with the MIIX300 failed but since I am still desperately looking for a really small but rather powerful subnotebook I finally gave in and ordered a refurbished Thinkpad Tablet 10 (TPT10). With the Ultrabook Keyboard it could turn out to be a very versatile, pretty powerful, low power mini laptop for travel and work. It comes with… Read more »
General Introduction Well, Bluetooth has always been a major source of joy, if you are into a kind of tech-SM 😉 It is very abstract and there are profiles and protocols for almost everything – and acronyms! Lots of acronyms, which can really make it hard to understand what is actually written in the spec documents. I am currently looking… Read more »
Since I wanted to play around with the Parrot Zik2 Bluetooth protocol (more on this soon) I wanted to dump the HCI stream on the phone which is running the Zik application. I used to do this several years ago on the very first Google G1 phone. At that time the Cyanogenmod for the G1 came with the BlueZ shell… Read more »
I gave up on the MIIX300 and Linux. I got Linux running but with too many caveats: WiFi, the SDIO connected RTL8732BS is a major pain! There are no official drivers but a Github repo which kind of works. But it caused the system to become sluggish soon after activating WiFi. Bluetooth, no avail. I never even tried getting Bluetooth… Read more »
Last June I got myself a new pair of headphones. Headphones is something very subjective – the comfort to wear them and especially their sound. So far the best headphones I got were the KOSS Porta Pro and the Bose Triport in-ear (the older model). The Porto Pro is a classic in the geek scene and for people that like… Read more »
The MIIX300 is a little beast. From the hardware point of view most of it is really nice – the display, the case, the keyboard etc. All good quality compared to the low price – I paid 239€ new, incl. taxes. But the hardware has issues. One design issue seems to be in the keyboard stand. It is connected to… Read more »
