Last weekend at GUADEC I learned about Purism, a startup company located in the bay area near San Francisco, USA. Purism is making portable computers (aka laptops) that aim to be as free and open as possible, giving users back their freedom and control over the machine they are working with. If you do not know about Purism yet, you should definitely have a look at their web pages and read about their goals and ideals.
I started to get in touch with them and see if I can support them in some way. I am fully convinced that an initiative like Purism is badly needed and that it takes more than this one manufacturer to secure our access to technology for the future. One of my goals is to bring the Librem device to Germany / Eruope, let’s see. I will post more on that here, stay tuned.
