YAT – Yet Another Toy 🙂 For quite some I am into wearable devices, especially smart watches. I like the idea of having a programmable device at hand all the time. But it is a major pain to find something like that that is at least kind of wearable for women. The Pebble Time Round could be one. I ordered mine last week and it is hopefully shipping next week, I’ll keep you posted.

One key feature of the Pebble Time series is the Timeline. This is a set of notes, reminders etc. displayed in chronological order on the watch. Each item in it is called a „pin“. This could be pretty handy but there is major privacy concern coming with it. Each and every pin is going through Pebble’s cloud servers. So my e.g. calendar reminder is sent from the Pebble app on my phone to the Pebble Cloud and from there back to my Pebble app on the phone and from there to the Pebble Time on my wrist. So the Pebble cloud service gets to know each and every timeline entry.

This is scary.
